Anishinabe Healing Center Horse Ranch for First Nations
Youth
Whiteshell, Manitoba, Canada
The horse is a potent medicine for many First Nations
people of Canada.
This project for youth-at-risk, which combines the
medicine from caring and raising horses with traditional medicine-healing,
is located in the Manitoba forest, near the ancient sacred petroform
sites in the Whiteshell vicinity.
The program calls for a Group Lodge with separately
adjoining Girls and Boys Lodges, Medicine Person's Home, Horse
Stables, and Sweat Lodges.
Passive solar and energy conserving technologies are
integrated into designs for all of the structures. The central
lodges are sod covered. All entrance doors face East.
